i think its been a while since i made a post based on something i had heard on net@nite but heard about doogtoons on the latest episode on the way into work this morning and had to check out a few of the doogtoons. also figured i'd try the "embed" feature on vox again since i hadn't done that since embedding my twitter feed.
doogtoons: "al's childhood"
heard the song code monkey by jonathan coulton for the first time on the latest episode of net@nite. i enjoyed it and it got me counting how many code monkeys i know not being one myself. turns out i only know a few although i can relate to the like of fritos and mountain dew. not sure if i can find tab anywhere. how many code monkeys do you know?
lyrics...
Code Monkey get up get coffee
Code Monkey go to job
Code Monkey have boring meeting
With boring manager Rob
Rob say Code Monkey very dilligent
But his output stink
His code not "functional" or "elegant"
What do Code Monkey think?
Code Monkey think maybe manager want to write god damned login page himself
Code Monkey not say it out loud
Code Monkey not crazy, just proud
Code Monkey like Fritos
Code Monkey like Tab and Mountain Dew
Code Monkey very simple man
With big warm fuzzy secret heart:
Code Monkey like you
Code Monkey hang around at front desk
Tell you sweater look nice
Code Monkey offer buy you soda
Bring you cup, bring you ice
You say no thank you for the soda cause
Soda make you fat
Anyway you busy with the telephone
No time for chat
Code Monkey have long walk back to cubicle he sit down pretend to work
Code Monkey not thinking so straight
Code Monkey not feeling so great
Code Monkey like Fritos
Code Monkey like Tab and Mountain Dew
Code Monkey very simple man
With big warm fuzzy secret heart:
Code Monkey like you
Code Monkey like you a lot
Code Monkey have every reason
To get out this place
Code Monkey just keep on working
See your soft pretty face
Much rather wake up, eat a coffee cake
Take bath, take nap
This job "fulfilling in creative way"
Such a load of crap
Code Monkey think someday he have everything even pretty girl like you
Code Monkey just waiting for now
Code Monkey say someday, somehow
Code Monkey like Fritos
Code Monkey like Tab and Mountain Dew
Code Monkey very simple man
With big warm fuzzy secret heart:
Code Monkey like you
on net@nite episode #4, steve gibson of security now on the twit.tv network is the special guest and it comes up that he regularly has a quinti venti latte (a venti latte with five espresso shots). i bring that up because i had a triple grande latte for the first time today and enjoyed it quite a bit and was feeling pretty wired there for a while. gonna have to increase the espresso content the next time around but which do you think would be stronger? a quinti venti latte (a venti latte with five espresso shots) or a quad grande latte (a grande latte with four espresso shots). now we could make this very scientific and measure the amount of steamed milk that would get added to both but what would the fun be in that? this experiment should be kept purely subjective, so go out and have both and report back on which drink got you more wired!
enjoying another pair of picks mentioned by amber and leo on the latest episode of net@nite. geni.com is a great site that lets you create a cool looking family tree in an ajax-style web2.0 interface. the second is twitter.com which lets you announce over the tubes what you are doing at the moment. check here and add me as a friend to see whether or not i'm staying out of trouble.
speaking of leo, congrats go out to him for being picked one of the top 25 web celebs by forbes and also for having twit named one of the top 10 podcasts for 2006 by time magazine.
your web browser of choice is firefox isn't it? if it isn't i hope you're at least not still using IE based on the security concerns alone. click here to switch to firefox and you won't regret it. since if you aren't using firefox you won't be able to take advantage of this great extension i found out about while listening to episode #2 of leo and amber's new show net@nite. the customizegoogle site calls it a firefox extension that enhances google search results but it really enhances your total google experience. so far my favorite features are the auto switch to secure (https) for gmail, calendar, and docs and that it will remove the ads from the google properties you use. check it out...its freeware. the customizegoogle site also has a short intro movie if you want to fine out more.
