19" LCD computer monitor (isolated)

i can't seem to catch a break as it relates to the electronics in my life since the move. and yes, a certain level of care was taken in moving the electronics especially the latest casualty. so, first i come to find that our cable modem hadn't survived the move and had to replace that last weekend. yesterday the wife calls to tell me that the monitor has gone completely black. it was working just fine before the move and for several days since i had gotten the desk set-up. now when the computer is awaken from sleep the display seems to work fine for a few seconds and then just goes dark. attempting to rule out the computer i used a second notebook we have to hook up to the monitor and same symptoms. when the display is activated it turns on briefly and then goes black. i'm afraid a replacement might be in order and its not we haven't been spending on other necessities (some more pricier than others) as we try to get settled in. i was planning on getting a Mac mini in october with the release of leopard...maybe its time to start considering an iMac in the fall and endure the notebook display until then.
