a tumblr post by jquig99 about a blog post by deirdre breakenridge:
I had a meeting last Thursday with my PR team and one of my clients. Unfortunately, I had to jump out of the meeting a little early to handle a personal matter. When I got back to the…
i wasn't completely unfa miliar with FFFFOUND.com because some people i follow on tumblr had tumblogged images from FFFFOUND! before but i was recently enlightend thanks to a podcast i started watching. i recently subscribed to a new show with patrick norton and jessica corbin on revison3 called tekzilla and here's what jessica had to say about FFFFOUND...
"Code Red is where Jessica tells you about her latest obsession... this week it's FFFFOUND!.com, a neat little place on the Internet where you can post and share your favorite images. The service also has the ability to recommend images it thinks you'll like based on your interests. This isn't another Flickr clone. The makers call it "an inspirational image-bookmarking experience!!" Jessica agrees."
FFFFOUND! is in private beta but i was able to snag an invite thanks to invitetrader.net (although the site seems to be down as i write this). i've just started using the site and there are definitely some interesting images available on the service. the recommended images is a nice feature.
tumblr has a great analogy on their FAQ on what a tumblelog is...
If blogs are journals, tumblelogs are scrapbooks.
so, with that my web2.0 presence is twitter (microblog) + tumblr (scrapbook) + vox (blog). tumblr recently released an update that adds some features that i really like that are centered around a new dashboard. from the community aspect the dashboard allows you to easily see your tumblr friends and also who is following you. the only thing that seems to be missing is the ability to see who your friends are following...this is one of the best things i like about vox (being able to see your neighbor's neighbors) and twitter (seeing who your friends are following) which allows you to build your own community.
well, since we've got a twitter group on vox i figured i might as well start a tumblr group as well. hopefully this group will help people build their community on tumblr. my tumblelog can be found at...
if john c. dvorak knew me he would call me a joiner just as he calls leo one and frankly he'd be right, at least in my case. i saw merlin tweet about it, heard leo and the gang talk about it on one of the podcasts and i was fighting the good fight in subduing the urge to join but alas after seeing that a few fellow vox'ers (leo, oski, phoneboy to name a few) were going to try it out i succumbed and joined. leo probably put it best in his post..."But sometimes they're really worth signing up for, and how do you know until you do?"
